How to stay up to date with SEO? There are many resources online to stay updated with SEO and Digital Marketing trends. I wanted to share my go-to SEO blogs and resources, which I recommend to keep track of. I enjoy being part of an SEO community and learning new and effective methods that can help my clients. Not only that, but it is also helpful to see what impact Google’s algorithm changes have had within specific industries, etc.
Blogs
- Moz Blog
- Moz was formerly SEO MOZ and has a great community which are opaque about the SEO industry. Some handy resources can be found on their blog.
- Ahrefs blog
- Expand your SEO and marketing knowledge with tutorials and case studies on the Ahrefs blog.
- Search Engine Roundtable
- The pulse of the search community, stay up to date with other SEO professionals.
- Google Search Central
- This blog lets you find official Google search core algorithm updates and announcements.
Facebook Communities
- SEO Signals Lab
- This group is dedicated to sharing case studies, split-test results, and SEO algorithm trends.
- The Proper SEO Group
- Currently the biggest & most active grey hat-based Group on Facebook
In addition to the blogs and Facebook groups listed above, there are some other resources that you can use to stay up-to-date on SEO and digital marketing trends. Here are a few of my favourites:
- SEO Subreddit
- There are several active SEO subreddits, such as /r/SEO and /r/BigSEO. These subreddits are a great place to ask questions, get advice from other SEO professionals, and stay up-to-date on the latest SEO news and trends.
I would also recommend that you follow some of the leading SEO experts on social media, such as:
Rand Fishkin: Rand Fishkin is the founder of Moz and one of the most respected SEO experts in the industry.
Gary Illyes: Gary Illyes is a Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google and is responsible for communicating with the SEO community about Google’s search algorithm changes.
John Mueller: John Mueller is a Senior Webmaster Trends Analyst at Google and is another excellent resource for information about Google’s search algorithm.
Keeping up to date with algorithm changes has helped me and the team at ClickPower stay updated with trends and allowed us to implement changes so we haven’t dropped off the search engines. Search has changed a lot in the past few years.
You could rank for anything as long as you had some content. But Google has emphasised the importance of topic authority, and you can see the shifts in SERPs. Search engines are trying to determine quality versus the dreaded “SEO content” sites created for clicks.
Using Google Discover, you can see where different authority signals were triggered. This gives you great insight into authority, trust, and predicted traffic. If you aren’t aware, Discover is a part of Google Search that shows people content related to their interests based on their Web and App Activity. Content is automatically eligible to appear in Discover if Google indexes it and meets Discover’s content policies.
You can view the document Discover and your website on Google Search Central, which will help you get your website discovered here. To find the trust and authority of the content, you can use Performance Report (Discover).
